Ryan's 1st Field Trip

Today Ryan and I went to the Children's Museum in Seminole with his school.  This was his 1st field trip, and he had a blast!  I was in charge of 5 kids, so he had to be my helper.  I was very proud of him!
These were my 5 to keep up with.

Ryan with Laynie & Michaela playing in the dentist section.

Ryan & Gunner loved playing in the water section.  Ryan's shirt was soaked!

Each one had to pose on the gorilla.

I'm so glad I was able to go with him on his 1st field trip!!

My wonderful husband!!!

Okay, so we've decided it's time to take on another project.  What can I say...we love fixing up the house!  After getting some quotes on new kitchen cabinets, Denny decided he would build them himself.  So, he spent this weekend building our new base cabinet.  (we didn't have cabinets here originally, so there hasn't been any demo yet)  I plan on this being my "baking station."  It's also a bar that the boys will be able to sit and do homework at.  I still can't believe how much Denny got done this weekend.  I am a very lucky woman!! (and not just because he's handy around the house!)

Ryan is very excited about this project.  He helped tear up the linoleum where the new cabinets were going to go.  He also helped Denny clamp some pieces together, sweep up dust, and whatever else he could help with.  Can you tell which clamps are Denny's?   :)

 My hard working husband.

And this is what we have so far.  Pretty good for one weekend, huh?!

Dr. Seuss Week

This past week was Dr. Seuss week at Ryan's school.  Each day they got to wear something different, and then read a Dr. Seuss book or watch a cartoon.  I love Dr. Seuss books, so we tried to read them at home each night, too.
Here is a picture of hat day.
(Durham Bulls was Aaron's baseball team last year.)

This was pajama day.  He likes his "cool" poses!

On Friday they were supposed to wear green, and they had green eggs & ham for breakfast.  I was tempted to eat with him that morning! :)

"So...
be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray
or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O'Shea,
you're off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So...get on your way!"
(from Oh, the Places You'll Go!
which is the first Dr. Seuss book the boys ever got.)

The Things Kids Say

I don't have any pictures right now, but I thought I'd post a few of Ryan's recent comments.  I wish I could remember them all.  I love the way he thinks sometimes, or the things that he remembers when you think he's not listening.

On Valentines Day his teacher had some chocolate on her desk.  The kids were commenting on how much she had, when Ryan said "That's how mommies can't fit in their jeans."

Ryan's Sunday School teacher told me they were talking about the other teacher taking a trip to Disney World.  She asked if any of the kids had been there.  She said some said yes, others said they were going to, and Ryan very excitedly replied "Nope, but I've been to Texas Roadhouse!"

One day mom and Ryan were talking, and she asked if he'd ever been to the principal's office.  He told her no, and she said it was because he was a good little boy. He then told her he had been in there, but he'd never got to go through all the drawers and her desk.  So, apparently to Ryan you haven't been in a room until you've snooped around a little.  Fair warning in case we're ever at your house! :)
The other night we were trying to get ready for a game.  (the boys were wound up and not paying attention)  Denny went to start the van, and on his way out noticed Ryan hadn't put his jacket on yet.  With his Daddy voice he informed Ryan he'd told him 3 times, and he better get his jacket on.  I walked into the room as Denny went outside and I heard Ryan (with a grin/giggle) say "I told you three times."  Aaron immediately got serious, and took a step away from Ryan.  They had been in giggly moods and playing around, but Aaron knew that went too far.  So, the comment wasn't funny, but Aaron's stepping away like Ryan was fixing to be struck by lightening was.

Okay, I guess we'll do one on Aaron.  It's not real funny, but made me want to ask how old he thought I was.  In the car the other day he asked if they had cars when I was little.  I nicely told him yes, and that they even had them when his Grandparents were growing up, which was a very, very long time ago. :)

A friend of mine's wife had to have an appendectomy.  When praying for her, Aaron asked God to help her independix.  Afterwards he asked if he said it right, and when I told him it was actually her appendix he said "well, that's embarassing..I said the wrong thing to God."  I told him God knew what he was talking about, and it probably made him smile. :)

I wish I could think of more to write.  I need to start writing them down, because Ryan is full of them.  Of course some of his comments are better left between us two. :)  I'm not sure I want to know all the things he tells his teacher, either!

Weekend Getaway!

This weekend we went to Tulsa and spent Friday and Saturday night.  Ryan wanted to spend his Christmas money on a hotel, so we decided it was time for a little trip. (no, we didn't use his money).  So, I guess you could say this was to celebrate Valentine's Day and our 12 year anniversary!  This hotel is nice because it has a great pool area for the kids, and a nice hot tub for the adults. :)
The trip started out with a few kinks, but went okay.  Ryan snapped the ear piece off his glasses right before we left, and we're having some van problems so we had to take the truck instead.  It wasn't too crowded, and everything in the back seat kept the boys separated.

The boys love staying in a hotel!

We went to the new Dick's Sporting Goods, and Aaron loved the fishing department.

The plan was to get pizza and eat supper in our room Saturday night, but after driving a while we realized there wasn't a Little Caesars.  So, we took Sonic back to the room.  I was frustrated, but the boys were just happy to eat in the room and watch a movie.

Can you believe we've been married 12 years?!

We took some games to play in the hotel room.  This one is called Headbands.

Wrestling Homecoming

Ryan got to carry the crown at Wrestling Homecoming.  He looked so cute out there!  The little girl he is with goes to the same school, but in a different class.
I wish I had more pictures, but my camera wasn't working too well.  These are two that William took.

William sent me a few more pics...here they are:

The Dining Room is Complete!

It took a little longer than expected, but I finally have the dining room done!  I had a hard time deciding what to put on the walls, but thanks to Pintrest I came up with some ideas.

I actually put the damask wall decals up myself.  It was ALOT harder than I thought, but definitely worth it.

Here is what I learned to do at Pintrest.com.  I took pictures of our family and then put them on canvas.  The above pic shows Paula & Ken on the left, Denny & I in the middle, and my parents on the right.  The other wall has pictures of our grandparents. I know this picture has a glare, but the quote reads "A True Love Story Never Ends"

Here are my beautiful damask curtains.  (can you tell I like damask?)
It's hard to tell in this pic, but this is a list of everyone's photo I put on the wall.  It has their full names, and when and where they got married.
