On our way out of town we stopped by the Bonne Terre Mines. My pictures don't do it justice! It was amazing, and the boys loved it. We lucked out, and were the only ones on our tour. Both the boys asked the tour guide, Mack, questions. Aaron talked to him pretty much the whole time!
After they closed the mines, they turned off the pumps & it filled up with crystal clear water. Now you can go scuba diving there. This a picture of a few of the buildings. One was the bathrooms, one was for the scuba divers to keep their belongings in, a lounge, etc.

At the top you can see a little ledge. The men that had to work there earned a whole nickle more.

I made a comment about how peaceful it was & Ryan commented: "yeah, until something crawls out of the water into the boat with you." Thanks Ryan!
It would look like a reflection of the pillars, but you were really seeing the pillar itself. The water was that clear.
This looks like a small hole, but it's where they lowered the boat through.
This is one of the landmarks for the scuba divers. It's called the Miner's Boot.
This was a little garden some of the miner's daughters set up as a memorial.
This was an amazing experience. I'm so glad we were able to go there with the boys!
